| Revolution | Is the movement of one object around another |
| Orbit | Around the sun |
| Solstice | Earth is most tilted towards or away from the sun which causes the longest and shortest daylight of the year |
| Equinox | Earth is not tilted towards the sun which causes equal day and night |
| Gravity | Fore that attracts all objects towards each other |

| Inertia | Tendency that keeps planets in motion |
| Phase | Different shape of the moon you see |
| Solar eclipse | When the moon passes directly between the Earth and Sun during a new moon |
| Lunar eclipse | Occurs during a full moon when Earth is directly between the moon and Sun |
| Umbra | Darkest part of a shadow where light is completely blocked |
| Penumbra | Area of a shadow where light is partially blocked |

| Neap tide | Lower high tides during the first and third quarter moons |
| Maria | Dark, smooth, lava covered areas on the moon |
| Highlands | Higher lighter areas on the moon covered with craters |
