Behavior of Light

TermDefinition
Mirror Smooth surface that reflects (bounces) light off an image of what is in front of it.
Reflection The bouncing off of light rays from the surface of an object such as a mirror or other shiny surface.
Lens Piece of clear material, such as glass or plastic, that bends (refracts) light rays as it passes through
Prism A solid glass or plastic object that light can pass through, refracts, and splits it into the colors of the rainbow.
Refraction The bending of light rays, bending light means that it changes direction and/or speed.
Absorb When light is taken all in and absorbed, specifically in black surface objects.
Medium a substance, (solid, liquid, or gas) through which light can or cannot travel through
Transmit When light moves through a medium without being affected.
