| Ellipse | Orbit of each planet, an oval shape. |
| Sun | Largest object in our solar system. |
| Axis | Pole in the center of the earth. |
| Rotation | Spinning on the earths axis. |
| Revolution | Is the movement of one object around another. |
| Orbit | Earths path around the sun. |
| Solstice | There is one day per year when the sun appears highest in the sky. |
| Equinox | Nether hemisphere is tilted toward the sun. |
| Hypothesized | That pulls the moon torwards the earth. |
| Gravity | The force that attracts all objects toward each other. |
| Law of universal gravitation | That every object in the universe attracts every other object. |
| Phase | Different shape of the moon you see. |
| Solar eclipse | When the moon passes directly between the earth and sun during the new moon. |
| Lunar eclipse | Occurs during a full moon directly between the earth and the sun. |
| Umbra | Darkest part of a shadow where light is completely blocked |
| Penumbra | Area of a shadow where light partially blocked. |
| Tide | Daily rise and fall of ocean water. |
| Neap tide | Lower high tides during the first and third quarter moons. |
| Maria | Dark smooth lava covered areas on the moon. |
| Highlands | Higher lighter areas on the moon covered with craters. |
