| Star | A giant ball of superheated gas or plasma, composed of hydrogen and helium |
| Planet | Spherical in shape, obirts the sun, and a lager mass then the objects around it. |
| Meteor | A streak of light produced of a small pice of rock enters earths atmosphere |
| Comet | A cold mixture of dust and ice that develops a trail of light |
| Constellation | A group of stars that represent a figure ,animal or object |
| Geocentric | An earth centered model |
| Heliocentric | Sun centered model |
| Ellipse | An ovel shape of the planets orbits |
| Sun | Largest object in our solar system |
| Axis | An imaginary line that passes from the north to South Pole |
| Rotation | Spinning of the earth on its axis |
| Revolution | The movement of one object around another |
| Orbit | Path planets follow when they revolve around the sun |
| Solstice | Sun causes longest or shortest day of the year |
| Equinox | Earth is not tilled toward the Sun which causes equal day and night |
| Gravity | Pulls all objects towards each other |
| Law of gravitation | Every object in the universe attracts every other object |
| Inertia | The tendency of an object to resist a change in motion |
| Phase | Different shapes of the moon you see |
| Solar eclipse | When the moon passes directly between the earth and sun |
| Lunar eclipse | Occurs during a full moon when the earth is directly between the moon and sun |
| Umbra | Darkest part of a shadow where light is completely blocked |
| Penumbra | Area of shadow where light is partially blocked |
| Tide | Daily rise and fall of ocean water |
| Spring tide | Higher tides during full and new moons |
| Neap tide | Lower high tides during the first third quarter |
| Maria | Dark smooth lava covered areas on the moon |
| Highlands | Higher lighter areas on the moon covered the craters |
