Cell transportation What is it? movement of materials across membrane passive: diffusion (high to low) osmosis (water low to high solute) active: endocytosis and phagocytes (ATP required) hypertonic: cells shrink
Astrocytes blood- brain barrier cells
hematopoietic tissue found in bones (red bone marrow)
epiphyseal plates (growth plates) bones that grow with activity
fontanelles allows overlap at birth, allow brain growth, closes at 2 y/o
bursa fluid filled sac reducing friction between bones , tendons, or muscle found in shoulder, knee, elbow
slidding filament theory movement: actin moves past myosin during contraction result: sarcomere shortens, producing tension
