Midterm Anatomy Flashcards

TermDefinition
Mitochondria This is the power house of a cell.
Tendon A tendon is what connects the muscle to the bone
Connective Tissue Connective tissue protects and acts as a supporter for other tissues like fat and bones.
Epidermis The outer most layer of the skin that protects the skin from viruses and UV rays.
Dermis This layer is the inner layer of skin and it holds nerve endings and blood vessels.
Hair follicle The hair follicle is a part of the dermis and is a structure where the hair will come out from.
Nucleus The centre of a cell that contains DNA and is the brain of a cell.
Protein This is what will build our body and this enzyme helps us move.
Organ This a structure made up of cells that do the same thing.
Homeostasis The body's way of "just right" this means that the body has everything to perform a stable condition.
