| Both Anatomy and Physiology are branches of biology concerned with the human body. What differentiates Anatomy from Physiology? | Anatomy is concerned with the study of body structure while Physiology is concerned with the study of body function. |
| What is metabolism? | It is the process of breaking down food to produce energy and maintain life through a series of chemical reactions |
| What is the difference between catabolism and anabolism? | Catabolism involves breaking down complex molecules into simpler ones while anabolism involves building complex molecules from simpler ones |
| How many cells does a human body have? | The number of cells is estimated at 100,000 billion in a 150 pound adult human body. |
| What is the function of the cell cytoplasm? | It fills the cell, maintains its shape, and houses all cell's structures apart from the nucleus. It also facilitates the transport of materials throughout the cell |
| What is the interaction between structure and function of the body? | Their relationship is a fundamental biological principle where the structure of a body part including its shape, form and size determines its function, while function can shape the structure of body organs over time. |
| What is the difference between endocrine and exocrine glands? | Endocrine glands release hormones directly into the bloodstream without the need of ducts while exocrine glands use ducts to release their products. |
| What is the importance of skin glands? | Skin glands are involved in regulating body temperature, providing protection and maintaining a healthy skin through lucrication |
