| Anatomy | The branch of biology that deals with the structure of organisms and their parts |
| Physiology | The study of the functions and processes of the body’s structures. |
| Homeostasis | The maintenance of a stable internal environment within an organism despite changes in external conditions. |
| Tissue | A group of cells that work together to perform a specific function. The four primary types are epithelial, connective, muscle, and nervous tissue. |
| Organ | A structure made up of two or more types of tissues that work together to perform specific functions. |
| System | A group of organs that work together to carry out complex functions essential for life |
| Sagittal Plane | A vertical plane that divides the body into right and left parts. |
| Coronal Plane | A vertical plane that divides the body into anterior (front) and posterior (back) sections. |
| Transverse Plane | A horizontal plane that divides the body into superior (upper) and inferior (lower) parts. |
| Cell Membrane | The thin, flexible barrier that surrounds the cell, controlling the movement of substances in and out. |
