Anatomy The study of structure of body parts and their relationship
Physiology The study of the body and its parts work or function
atom the smallest unit of matter that retains the properties of an element
chemical bond the force that holds atoms together- includes ionic, covalent, and hydrogen bonds
metabolism all the chemical reaction in the body that build (anabolism) or break down (catabolism) substance to maintain life.
PH scale measures how acid or basic a substance is
Epithelial tissue covers body surfaces, lines cavities, and forms glands.
Endocrine releases hormones into bloodstream
exocrine releases substance through ducts
homeostasis the body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment, even when the external conditions change
diffusion the movement of molecules from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration until they are evenly spread out.
