axial/transverse plane A horizontal plane; divides the body or any of its parts into upper and lower parts
dorsal cavity the largest compartments of the body

cranial cavity Formed by the cranial bones and holds the brain. Vertebral canal. Formed by the vertebrae and contains the spinal cord. Thoracic cavity.

abdominal cavity The cavity within the abdomen that contains the stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, spleen, and kidneys, and the lower part of the esophagus
