Superior vs. Inferior Superior = Toward the head or upper part of the body (UP) Inferior = Away from the head or toward the lower part of the body (DOWN)
Anterior vs. Posterior Anterior = Toward the front of the body (FORWARD) Posterior = Toward the back of the body (BACKWARD)
Oxygen in the human body Found mostly as a component of water, which makes up 70% of total body weight.
Most abundant element in the body with no known biological role Calcium is essential, but the chart notes that silicon is the most abundant element in the body with no known biological role.
Normal Tissue Histology A section of the Human Protein Atlas dictionary that provides representative human tissue sections stained with hematoxylin-eosin (HE)
Cell Structure (Immunofluorescence) A section of the Human Protein Atlas dictionary describing subcellular compartments in human cell lines.
Pleura The serous membrane of the thoracic cavity that surrounds the lungs. The parietal pleura lines the chest wall, the visceral pleura covers the lungs.
Skeletal System Functions The skeletal system provides support and protection for the body’s organs, allows movement by serving as attachment points.
Bone Types Long bones, Short bones, Flat bones, Irregular bones, Sesamoid bones
Types of Muscle Tissue Visceral, Cardiac muscle, Skeletal muscle
