Digestive Organs : Examples Organs that break down food and absorb nutrients (e.g., mouth, stomach, intestines, liver).
Respiratory Organs: Examples Organs that help with breathing and gas exchange (e.g., lungs, trachea, diaphragm).
Cell Structure The parts that make up a cell, like the nucleus, cytoplasm, and cell membrane.
Integumentary System The body’s outer covering (skin, hair, nails) that protects and regulates temperature.
Chemistry of Life Study of elements, molecules, and chemical reactions essential for living organisms.
Skeletal Tissues: Examples Supportive tissues such as bone and cartilage.
Axial & Appendicular Muscles Axial muscles support the head, neck, and trunk; appendicular move the limbs.
Diaphysis The long, central shaft of a long bone.
Cartilage Smooth, flexible connective tissue that cushions joints.
Blood Calcium Regulation The control of calcium levels in the blood, mainly by parathyroid hormone and calcitonin.
Radius One of the two forearm bones; located on the thumb side.
Humerus The upper arm bone, connecting shoulder to elbow.
Sagittal Plane Divides the body into left and right sections.
Coronal Plane Divides the body into front (anterior) and back (posterior) sections.
Transverse Plane Divides the body into upper (superior) and lower (inferior) sections.
Ligaments Tough bands of tissue that connect bones to other bones.
Bones Rigid organs that support, protect, and enable movement in the body.
