Human Anatomy
| Term | Definition |

| Axial Muscles | Muscles that are located along the axis of the body, including the head, neck, and trunk. |
| Appendicular Muscles | Muscles that are responsible for the movement of the limbs, including the muscles of the shoulders, arms, hips, and legs |
| Flexion | A movement that decreases the angle between two body parts, such as bending the elbow |
| Extension | A movement that increases the angle between two body parts, such as straightening the elbow |
| Abduction | Movement of a limb away from the body's midline, such as raising the arm sideways |
| Adduction | Movement of a limb towards the body's midline, such as lowering the arm to the side |
| Rotation | A circular movement around an axis, like turning the head from side to side |
| Origin | The fixed attachment point of a muscle, usually on a bone, where it does not move during contraction |
| Insertion | The attachment point of a muscle to a movable bone, where movement occurs during muscle contraction |
| Antagonistic Muscle Pair | Two muscles that have opposite actions, such as the biceps (flexor) and triceps (extensor) |
