Endoplasm Cytoplasm located toward the center of the cell
Golgi Apparatus Membranous organelle consisting of sepa-rate tiny sacs, or cisternae, stacked on one another and located near the nucleus
Epithelial tissue Covers and protects the body surface
Connective tissue Functions to support the body and its parts, connect and hold them together
Compact bone Dense and solid in appearance
Osteoblasts Small cells that synthesize and secrete an organic matrix called osteoid
Osteoclasts Giant multinucleate cells that are responsible for the active erosion of bone minerals
