What type of connective tissue cushions organs and storage energy? Adipose tissue, also known as fat tissue cushions, internal organs, and serves as a major energy reserve.
What are tendons and what is their function? Tendons are strong, connective, tissues that attach muscles to bones, allowing movement when muscles contract.
What is the function of the sarcoplasmic reticulum in muscle cells? The sarcoplasmic, reticulum stores and release, calcium ions needed to trigger muscle contraction.
What is the plasma membrane, and what is its main function? The plasma membrane surrounds each cell and controls what enters and exits, maintaining the internal balance through selective permeability.
What role does the mitochondrion play in the cell? The mitochondrion is a cell’s powerhouse-it converts nutrients into ATP, the main energy currency used for cell activities and muscle contraction.
What is the role of osteoblasts, osteocytes, and osteoclasts in Bone health? Osteoblasts build bone, osteocytes maintain bone, and osteoclasts breakdown tissue. Together, they keep bones, strong, and adaptable through remodeling.
Which part of the skeletal system protects vital organs like the brain, heart, and lungs? The axial skeleton, which includes the skull, vertebral column, and rib cage protects the brain, spinal cord, and thoracic organs
What is homeostasis and why is it important? Homeostasis is the bodies ability to maintain a stable internal environment, despite external changes. It’s vital for keeping temperature, pH, and electrolyte balance within healthy ranges.
What is ATP’s role in muscle contraction? if fuels myosin so muscles can contract and relax
What happens at the neuromuscular junction Nerves release, acetylcholine, triggering muscle contraction
