Anatomy

Anatomy The study of the structure of the body parts and their relationships to one another
Physiology The study of how the body and it's parts function and work together
Homeostasis The body's ability to maintain a stable internal environment despite changes in the external environment
Negative Feedback A control mechanism that opposes or reverses a change to maintain balance
Positive Feedback A control mechanism that amplifies a change
Atom The smallest unit of matter that retains the properties of an element
Cell The basic structural and functional unit of life
Organ System A group of organs that work together to perform a specific function for the body
Protein A large biomolecule made of amino acids, essential for structure, function, and regulation of body tissues
Mitochondria Organelles that produce ATP, the cell's main energy source through cellular respiration.
