Describe the homeostatic control mechanism? Homeostasis relies on feedback systems, receptors, control centers, and effectors to detect changes and restore balance. Negative feedback maintains stability, while positive feedback expedites specific processes.
List one type of epithelial tissue and one function. Simple Squamous Epithelium. Function: Facilitates diffusion and filtration processes, such as exchange of gas in alveoli of the lungs.
How do bonds attract another molecule to the other? Molecules are drawn to each other by intermolecular forces, which differ from the chemical bonds, such as covalent or ionic bonds, that connect atoms within a molecule.
What is the difference between catabolism and Anabolism? Catabolism involves breaking down molecules and releasing energy, while anabolism is about building molecules and using energy.
Describe the main function of the cell? The main function of a cell is to act as the fundamental unit of life, executing vital processes essential for survival. In general, cells sustain life by performing all necessary biological functions.
what is organelle? List one function organelle. An organelle is a unique structure within a cell that performs a specific function. One key role of organelle is energy production; for instance, mitochondria produce energy for the cell via cellular respiration.
Name three muscles tissue and their key difference? Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth muscles differ in control (voluntary or involuntary), structure (striated or non-striated), and cell shape or nucleus number.
what are the functions and classification of connective tissues? Functions include support, binding, protection, storage, transport, and immunity. Classification covers connective tissue proper, cartilage, bone, and blood.
Name and state locations of two involuntary muscles. Cardiac muscle (heart wall), smooth muscle (walls of intestines)
The skull is made up of how many divisions? Give examples. Two divisions: Cranium and Facial bones. An example of a facial bone is the Maxilla, while a cranium bone example is the Frontal bone.
what is chemical digestion? chemical digestion is the process by which complex and large food molecules are broken down into simpler molecule by action of an enzymes for nutritional absorption.
what is referred to as chief cell. Chief cell also known as zymogenic cell or peptic cell is a specialized type of cell found in the lining of the stomach within the gastric glands located in the mucosa of the stomach wall.
