What is pH? pH is a measure of how acidic or basic a solution is, based on the relative amounts of hydrogen ions and hydroxide ions present
What does the pH of a solution measure? pH of a solution measures the acidity or alkalinity of the solution. It ranges from 0 to 14
What are the three main layers of the skin? Epidermis, Dermis, and Hypodermis
Where do new skin cells begin? In the Stratum Basale
What is the function of the cell membrane in a human cell? The cell membrane controls what enters and leaves the cell
Which organelle is known as the "powerhouse" of the cell? The mitochondrion is the powerhouse due to the production of ATP
What is the role of the nucleus in a human cell? The nucleus contains the cell's genetic material (DNA) and controls the cell's activity
What are the four main types of tissues in the human body? Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, and Nervous Tissues
What is the primary function of epithelial tissue in the skin? Epithelial tissue forms a protective barrier that covers the body and lines the organs
What types of tissue connects muscles to bones? Tendons
Which layer of the skin contains blood vessels and nerve endings? The Dermis
