What is the fibrous covering that is external to muscles, bones, and other organs? Fascia
What is the fibrous covering that surrounds an individual muscle fiber? Endomysium
Where is the fulcrum in a muscle movement in regards to the lever system? The joint
Where is the force or pull in a muscle movement in regards to the lever system? The muscle that is contracting
What is a first class lever? Muscle movement where the fulcrum is in between the pull and the load. Ex: Tilting your head up; atlas is fulcrum, face is load, neck is pull
What is a second class lever? Muscle movement where the load is in between the fulcrum and the pull. Ex: Calf raise; toes are the fulcrum, body is the load, calf is the pull
What is a third class lever? Muscle movement where the pull is between the load and the fulcrum. Ex: Bicep curl; elbow is the fulcrum, bicep is the pull, dumbbell is the load
What is the origin of the sternocleidomastoid? Sternum and clavicle
What is the insertion of the sternocleidomastoid? Temporal bone (mastoid process)
What is the function of the sternocleidomastoid? -Flexes head and neck -Rotates head to other side (one muscle at a time)
