Conflict/PunOxymoron

TermDefinition
Term: Internal Conflict Definition: A struggle a character has within their own mind—like feeling confused, guilty, or torn between choices.
Romeo states, “O brawling love! O loving hate!” Oxymoron Example/Internal Conflict
Term: External Conflict Definition: A problem or fight between a character and someone or something else, like another person or group.
The fight between the Montagues and Capulets is a family feud that causes violence. Example of external conflict—a fight between two characters.
Term: Oxymoron Definition: A phrase that puts two opposite words together to show mixed feelings or confusion.
Term: Pun Definition: A play on words, often humorous, where a word has two meanings.
Mercutio states: “Ask for me tomorrow, and you shall find me a grave man.” Pun Example/External Conflict (He was stabbed by Tybalt.)
