Desmosomes Category of cell junction that holds adjacent cells together
Gap Junction Cell connections formed when membrane channels of adjacent plasma membrane adhere to each other.
Hydrophilic Describing a particle or substance attracted to water
Hydrophobic Describing a particle or substance that is not attracted to water
Hydrolysis Chemical process in which a compound is split by addition of H and OH- portions of a water molecule.
Adenosine Triphosphate(ATP) Chemical compound that provides energy for use by body cells
Circadian Occurring in a daily cycle.
Anatomy The study of a structure of an organism and the relationship of its parts.
Anterior Front, opposite of posterior
