Anatomy Weeks 1-7

QuestionAnswer
The study of Anatomy is the study of structure and consists of... gross, microscopic, developmental, pathological, and systemic anatomy.
What is the proper Anatomical Position? Body erect, arms at sides, palms forward, head and feet forward
What are Atoms? electrically neutral with equal numbers of protons (+) and electrons (-) so they are balanced.
What are Electrolytes? substances that dissociate into ions in a solution. They are formed when acids, bases, or salts dissolve in water.
What are the main components of the Phospholipid Bilayer? double layered, heads are hydrophilic (water loving), tails are hydrophobic (water fearing).
What are the four tissues? Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, and Nervous Tissue
What percentage of your body weight is skeletal muscle? 40 to 50% body weight
A muscle that directly performs a specific movement... Prime Mover
How is "good posture" produced? body alignment that most favors function, achieved by keeping the body's center of gravity over its base and requires the least muscular work to maintain.
What is the Lever System? Rigid Bar (bone), Fulcrum (joint), Load (moved), Pull (produces movement).
