What is the main job of the nervous system? It senses changes, it processes information, and it tells muscles or glands to act.
What are the two main parts of the nervous system? The central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system.
What are the two types of nervous system cells? Glia cells and neurons.
What protects the brain and the spinal cord? The three layers of the meninges.
What are the six major parts of the brain? The cerebrum, the cerebellum, the medulla oblongata, the pons, the midbrain, and the diencephalon.
What is the job of the cerebellum? It helps with balance and smooth movement of skeletal muscles.
What are the two main parts of the autonomic nervous system? The sympathetic system and the parasympathetic system.
What do sensory receptors do? They detect changes in the inside and outside of the body.
What two groups do sense organs belong to? General sense organs and special sense organs.
What system uses hormones to control growth and metabolism? The endocrine system.
What are the three main parts of the cardiovascular system? Blood, the heart, and blood vessels.
What is the job of red blood cells? They carry oxygen in the blood.
What is the job of the lymphatic system? It returns fluid to the blood and helps protect the body from disease.
What do lymph nodes do? They filter lymph and trap harmful substances.
What are the main organs of the respiratory tract? The nose, pharynx, larynx, trachea, bronchi, and lungs.
