| Thesis Statement | A concise declaration that presents the main argument or idea of the writing |
| Broad/ General | Covering a wide range and is not specific |
| Narrow/ Specific | Focused on one or a small set of content |
| Hook | First sentence of an intro paragraph that grabs the readers attention |
| Bridge | Bridges from your hook to the topic of your essay |
| Background Information/ Context | Necessary information on what you are writing about |
| Comprehension | To understand what you have read |
| Hunt and Peck Reading | To read just for answers and not comprehension |
