QuestionsAnswer
What is the anatomical position and why is it important? The anatomical position is a standardized way of viewing the body where the feet are parallel and flat on the floor, and the head and eyes face straight ahead.
What does PH stand for? PH stands for "potential of hydrogen" or "power of hydrogen". It refers to the concentration of hydrogen ions in a water-based solution.
What does a PH value below 7 indicate? A PH value below 7 indicates acidity, meaning the solution has more hydrogen ions (H⁺) than hydroxide ions (OH⁻).
Is a solution with pH 8 considered basic? (Yes/No) Yes.
What role do mitochondria play in the cell? The mitochondria are the power generators that produce the energy needed to run all the cell’s functions.
What role do mitochondria play in the cell? The mitochondria are the power generators that produce the energy needed to run all the cell’s functions.
Do lysosomes act as the cleanup crew that breaks down waste and defective parts in the cell?(Yes/No) Yes.
What are the Three Primary layers of the Skin and their main functions? The three Primary are the epidermis, dermis and hypodermis
What are Primary layers of the Skin main functions? The epidermis acts as a protective barrier, the dermis provides strength, elasticity, and nourishment, and the hypodermis cushions the body, insulates, and anchors the skin.
The stratum spinosum contains cells connected by desmosomes and involved in keratin synthesis.(True/False) True.
Are new skin cells formed in the stratum corneum layer?(Yes/No) No.
What makes the stratum lucidum unique compared to other epidermal layers? The stratum lucidum is found only in thick skin, such as the palms and soles, and contains dead keratinocytes rich in a clear protein called eleidin.
Where do new epidermal cells originate from? New epidermal cells originate from stem cells located in the stratum basale, the deepest layer of the epidermis. These cells divide and produce keratinocytes that migrate upward through the epidermal layers.
The dermis is thinner than the epidermis and lacks blood vessels.(True/False) True.
What role does bone marrow play in the skeletal system? Bone marrow makes blood cells, which help keep the body healthy by supporting the circulatory and immune systems.
How does the skeletal system work with the muscular system? Muscles attach to bones via tendons and pull on them to produce movement. Bones act as levers and joints as fulcrums, enabling motion, posture, and balance.
What is the relationship between the skeletal and nervous systems? The vertebrae protect the spinal cord, and sensory receptors in joints, muscles, and tendons send feedback to the nervous system for coordination, balance, and stability.
: How does the skeletal system contribute to endocrine and metabolic functions? Bones store essential minerals like calcium and phosphate, which help with muscle contraction, nerve signaling, and hormone secretion.
Does walking upright free human hands to make and use tools? (Yes/No) Yes.
Does the skeletal system only provide structure and have no role in metabolism? (Yes/No) No.
The skeletal system and muscular system do not interact with each other. (True/False) False.
Bone marrow helps in the production of blood cells. (True/False) True.
