What is the anatomical position The body stands upright, facing forward, with feet parallel, arms at the sides, and palms facing forward
What does the term superior (cranial) mean Toward the head or upper part of the body. Example: The head is superior to the chest
What does inferior (caudal) mean Away from the head or lower part of the body. Example: The stomach is inferior to the heart
What is pH A measure of how acidic or basic a solution is, based on hydrogen ion concentration
What is a buffer A chemical that keeps pH stable by neutralizing acids or bases
What does the cell theory say All lving things are made of cells, cells are the basic unit of life, and all cells come from other cells
What does the mitochondria do They produce energy (ATP) for the cell
What does the nucleus do It controls the cell and stores DNA
What does the Golgi apparatus do It packages and sends out proteins and lipids
Why is anatomical terminology important It helps healthcare workers describe body parts clearly and avoid confusion
