Alzheimer's disease A neurodegenerative disorder that causes a progressive decline in memory, thinking, and reasoning skills. This disease is named after neuropathologist Alois Alzheimer.
Addison disease An endocrine disorder where the adrenal glands do not produce enough hormones. This disease is named after physician Thomas Addision.
Down syndrome A genetic disorder that causes intellectual disability and characteristic physical features. This disorder is named after physician John Langdon Down.
Hashimoto's thyroiditis An autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the thyroid gland, leading to hypothyroidism. This disease is named after Hakaru Hashimoto.
Parkinson's disease A progressive disorder of the nervous system that affects movement. This disease is named after physician James Parkinson.
