Decimal Place. Value
| Term | Definition |

| Decimal Point: | The dot (.) used to separate the whole number part from the fractional part (the decimal part) of a number. |
| Place Value: | The value of a digit based on its position in a number. In a decimal system, the value of each place is 10 times the value of the place to its right. |
| Decimal | Any number containing a decimal point. It represents a value that is not a whole number. |
| Tenths | The first place value to the right of the decimal point, representing fractions with a denominator of 10 (101 ). |
| Hundredths | The second place value to the right of the decimal point, representing fractions with a denominator of 100 (1001 ). |
| Thousandths | The third place value to the right of the decimal point, representing fractions with a denominator of 1,000 (1,0001 ). |
| Whole Number: | The part of the decimal number that is to the left of the decimal point. (e.g., in 12.34, 12 is the whole number). |
| Expanded Form: | A way to write a number that shows the sum of the values of its digits (e.g., 4.56 in expanded form is 4+0.5+0.06). |
| Standard Form: | The usual or common way to write a number using digits (e.g., 12.34). |
