Anatomy The study of the structure of a living organism
Physiology The study of the function of a living organism
Element A substance that can't be broken down into 2 or more different substances
Covalent Bonds Chemical bonds formed by the sharing of electrons
Microvilli A type of cell extension that lines the intestines and other areas of the body
Plasma Membrane The outer boundary of a human cell
Mitochondrion The "power plant" of the cell, and is the site of ATP production
Lysosome An organelle that is primarily a sack of powerful digestive enzymes called hydrolases
Human Skin Your body's largest organ and the protective layer between the environment and your internal body, ranging from a thickness of 0.5 cm to 0.3 cm.
Nucleus A membrane-bound spherical structure containing genetic material in a cell, referred to as the "command center" of the cell
