What are the three main types of muscle tissue? Skeletal, cardiac, and smooth.
Which muscle is the prime mover of inhalation? Diaphragm.
What is the origin and insertion of the biceps brachii? Origin: Scapula; Insertion: Radius.
What is the function of the rectus abdominis? Flexes the vertebral column and compresses abdominal contents.
What connective tissue surrounds an entire muscle? Epimysium.
What is the difference between axial and appendicular muscles? Axial muscles support the head, neck, and trunk; appendicular muscles move the limbs and girdles.
Which appendicular muscle abducts the arm at the shoulder? Deltoid.
What is the role of calcium in muscle contraction? Binds to troponin, allowing myosin to bind to actin.
Name one axial muscle involved in posture. Erector spinae.
What are the six features used to name muscles? Location, size, shape, direction of fibers, number of origins, and action.
