Week 1-5 Anatomy

Tissues, Skeletal system, skin, cells, etc.

pH "Power of hydrogen". Measure of how acidic or basic a solution is. the body keeps blood pH around 7 for proper function.
Chemical bond The connection between atoms that form molecules. Which includes ionic, covalent, and hydrogen bonds.
Plasma membrane The outer boundary of a cell that controls what enters and leaves and is made up of phospholipid bilayer.
Mitochondria The cell's powerhouse and produces Atp(energy) through cellular respiration
Ribosomes Tiny structures that makes proteins which are found in the cytoplasm or attached to rough ER.
Nucleus The control center of the cell that stores DNA and regulates gene expression
Skin- Epidermis The outermost layer of skin which is made of stratified squamous epithelium and the main layers include, stratum basale, stratum spinosum, stratum ganulosum, stratum lucum(thick skin)and stratum corneum.
Skeletal System Which is the whoel frame of bones and joints that support the body and holding it together. It protects the organs.
Articular cartilage Smooth and flexible tissue that covers the ends of the bones in joint and reduces friction.
Nutrient artery A blood vessel that enters the bone to supply oxygen and nutrients to the bone cells.
Cytoplasm The gel like fluid inside the cell where organelles are suspended and many reactions happen.
Cells The basic unit of life which is the smallest thing that creates the proccess of life.
