What joint connects the clavicle to the sternum? Sternoclavicular joint.
What joint connects the scapula to the humerus? Glenohumeral (shoulder) joint
What bones make up the wrist? Carpals.
How many carpal bones are there? 8.
What bones form the pelvic girdle? Two hip bones (coxal bones).
What three bones fuse to form each hip bone? Ilium, ischium, and pubis.
What is the socket of the hip bone called? Acetabulum.
What bone bears most of the body’s weight in the leg? Tibia.
What structure connects the two pubic bones? Pubic symphysis.
What is the function of the pelvic girdle? Supports trunk, protects organs, attaches lower limbs.
What type of joint is the shoulder? Ball-and-socket joint.
What type of joint is the elbow? Hinge joint.
Which bone serves as the attachment for most forearm flexors? Humerus (medial epicondyle).
Which bone serves as the attachment for most forearm extensors? Humerus (lateral epicondyle).
What muscle group inserts on the calcaneus? Gastrocnemius and soleus (via Achilles tendon).
What is the function of the appendicular skeleton overall? Movement and locomotion.
Which bones are part of the upper appendicular skeleton? Pectoral girdle, arm, forearm, wrist, hand.
Which bones are part of the lower appendicular skeleton? Pelvic girdle, thigh, leg, ankle, foot.
What connects the axial and appendicular skeletons? Girdles.
What bone would most likely fracture in a fall on an outstretched hand? Scaphoid.
What bone is commonly fractured in contact sports (shoulder)? Clavicle.
What bone injury is known as a “broken hip”? Fracture of the femoral neck.
What bone forms the kneecap? Patella.
What type of bone is the patella? Sesamoid bone.
What joint allows you to rotate your arm? Shoulder joint.
What joint allows you to rotate your forearm? Radioulnar joint.
What joint allows leg extension? Knee joint.
What joint allows you to point your toes? Ankle joint.
What are the main functions of the appendicular skeleton? Movement, support, and muscle attachment.

How many bones in each lower limb? 30
What is the most mobile joint in the appendicular skeleton? Shoulder joint.
