scientific method
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Observe: | to collect facts about and object in a given environment using any or all of your senses. |
| Inference: | to give your opinion or thought of what is happening or going to happen. An EDUCATED GUESS!! |
| Qualitative | Observations that DO NOT use measurements or numbers. |
| Quantitative | Observations that DO use measurements or numbers. |
| Controlled or Constant variable | A variable that stays the same throughout |
| Manipulated or Independent variable | A variable that can be changed on purpose |
| Responding or Dependent variable | A variable that changes as a result of changing the manipulated variable. |
| Question | The question or problem you want to answer. (How does the independent variable affect the dependent variable) |
| Hypothesis | : An educated guess as to what will happen at the outcome of an experiment or investigation. |
| : Conclusion | Analyze what happened and why? (Create a T-chart) |
| Communicate | Tell or show what you know. Using charts and graphs created from the experiment write a 5 sentence statement of results. |
| Experiment | Gathering material, complete the steps in order (procedure), and collecting data |
