Enuresis Involuntary discharge of urine
Glycosuria Presence of glucose (sugar) in the urine.
Hematuria Presence of blood in the urine.
Hydronephrosis Swelling of a kidney due to a build-up of urine.
Incontinence Inability to control the excretion of urine.
Ketonuria Presence of ketone bodies in the urine.
Nephritis Inflammation of the kidneys.
Nephrolithiasis The condition of having kidney stones.
Nephropathy Disease or damage of the kidney.
Nocturia Frequent and excessive urination during the night.
Oliguria The production of abnormally small amounts of urine.
Polyuria Production of abnormally large volumes of dilute urine.
Pyelonephritis Inflammation of the kidney due to a bacterial infection.
Pyuria Presence of pus in the urine.
Uremia A raised level in the blood of urea and other nitrogenous waste.
Ureteritis Inflammation of a ureter.
Urethritis Inflammation of the urethra.
Urinary Retention Inability to completely or partially empty the bladder.
Vesicoureteral Reflux Abnormal flow of urine from your bladder back up the ureters.
Cystoscopy Visual examination of the bladder using a fiberoptic instrument (cystoscope).
Nephrectomy Surgical removal of a kidney.
Nephrolithotomy Incision into the kidney to remove a stone.
Pyelotomy Surgical incision into the renal pelvis.
Ureterostomy Surgical creation of a new opening from the ureter to the exterior of the body.
Urethrotomy Surgical incision into the urethra.
Lithotripsy Procedure that uses sound waves or shock waves to break up stones.
Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy (ESWL) Non-invasive procedure using external shock waves to crush kidney stones.
Hemodialysis Procedure to remove waste products and excess fluid from the blood when the kidneys fail.
Peritoneal Dialysis Dialysis that uses the lining of the abdominal cavity (peritoneum) to filter the blood.
Cystostomy Surgical creation of an opening into the bladder (often for drainage).
Cystorrhaphy Surgical suturing of the bladder.
Nephropexy Surgical fixation of a floating or prolapsed kidney.
Transurethral Resection (TUR) Removal of tissue (e.g.
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) Removal of excess prostate tissue through the urethra to relieve obstruction.
Cystoplasty Surgical repair or reconstruction of the bladder.
Urethroplasty Surgical repair or reconstruction of the urethra.
Pyeloplasty Surgical repair of the renal pelvis.
Nephrostomy Surgical creation of an opening between the kidney and the skin (often for a drain).
Catheterization Insertion of a tube (catheter) into the bladder to drain urine.
Meatotomy Surgical enlargement of the opening of the urethra (meatus).
Cystopexy Surgical fixation of the bladder to the abdominal wall.
Renal Transplant Surgical replacement of a diseased kidney with a healthy donor kidney.
Ureteroscopy Visual examination of the ureter using a flexible or rigid scope.
Intravenous Pyelogram (IVP) / Intravenous Urography (IVU) Radiographic study of the kidneys
