bronchitis inflammation of the bronchial tubes
rhinovirus a virus that causes the common cold
skin cancer disease where abnormal skin cells grow uncontrollably,
general condition overall state of a person’s health or body
abrasion a shallow injury where the top layer of skin is scraped off
contusion medical term for a bruise
edema the swelling caused by a buildup of excess fluid in the body’s tissues
fracture break or crack in a bone
hypertension the medical term for high blood pressure
thrombosis the formation of a blood clot (thrombus) inside a blood vessel
sepsis a life-threatening condition that occurs when the body has an extreme response to an infection
diagnostic procedures tests or examinations performed to identify a disease, condition, or injury
biopsy a medical procedure in which a small sample of tissue is taken from the body to examine it for disease
computed tomography (CT) scan a medical imaging procedure that uses X-rays and a computer to create detailed cross-sectional images of the body
toxicology screen a medical test that checks a person’s blood, urine, or other body fluids for toxins
ultrasound a medical imaging technique that uses high-frequency sound waves to create images of the inside of the body
venipuncture the process of inserting a needle into a vein to draw blood or deliver medication
treatment the methods and actions used to manage or cure a disease, injury, or medical condition
chemotherapy a medical treatment that uses powerful drugs to kill or stop the growth of cancer cells
dialysis a medical treatment that does the job of the kidneys when they are no longer able to filter blood effectively
pharmacotherapy the treatment of a disease or medical condition using drugs or medications
transplant a surgical procedure in which a damaged or failing organ or tissue is replaced with a healthy one from a donor
