how forces affect motion

| Velocity: | speed in a particular direction |
| force: | an interaction that can change an object's motion, shape, or direction |
| exert: | apply or bring to bear (a force, influence, or quality) |
| cause: | a person or thing that gives rise to an action, phenomenon, or condition. |
| effect: | a change which is a result or consequence of an action or other cause. |
| friction: | the resistance that one surface or object encounters when moving over another. |
| infer: | deduce or conclude (information) from evidence and reasoning rather than from explicit statements. |
| mass: | the measure of the amount of matter in an object, which is constant regardless of location |
| collision: | the moment when two objects hit each other |
