What is the definition of anatomy? the study of the structure or internal working of the body
What is homeostasis? self-regulating process which biological systems maintain stability while adjusting to changing conditions
What is an organic molecule:? any chemical compound that contains one or more carbon atoms covalently bonded to other elements
What is protein synthesis? the biological process which cells create proteins from amino acids involving transcription and translation
What is an ionic bond? a type of chemical bond formed through the electrostatic attraction between positively charge ions
What is a gap junction? Specialized intracellular channels that allow direct communication between adjacent cells
What are the main types of tissue? Epithelial tissue, Connective tissue, muscle tissue, nervous tissue
What is included in the axial part of the skeleton? The skull, neck and trunk
What are the three classification of joints? Synarthroses (immovable), amphiarthroses (slightly moveable), and diarthroses (freely moveable)
What is a neuromuscular junction? a type of connection called a synapse, it contains a narrow gap which neurotransmitter molecules transmit signals
