| Synergist | A muscle that assists that agonist in performing a movement. |
| Fascia | A layer of connective tissue that surrounds muscle. |
| Myofibril | The contractile threads found in muscle cells, made of actin and myosin. |
| Sarcomere | The basic functional unit of a muscle fiber, responsible for contraction. |
