QuestionAnswer
What happens when cans of different masses hit the clay ball? the clay ball gets compressed more if the can has more mass or less compressed if it has less mass.
what happens when cans of different speeds hit the clay ball? the more speed the can has the more it will compress. the less speed the can has will compress less.
Definition of kinetic energy how much energy an object has depending on its speed and mass. In activity 3.2 its defined as ( The energy an object has because of its motion)
how do you increase KE and decrease KE? increase:more speed and more mass, decrease: less speed and less mass.
Is KE a form of PE? no, potential energy is stationary, with stored energy to be released; kinetic energy is energy in motion, actively using energy for movement. ( this is googled idk if you necesarily need to know why its not a form of pe)
What is the relationship between KE and the mass and speed of the object? the more mass and speed the more KE an object has.
Definition of gravitational energy how much energy an object has based on its mass and height(elevation) In activity 3.2 its defined as (The energy stored in an object due to its position on Earths surface.)
how do you increase GE and decrease GE? increase height and mass. decrease height and mass
is GE a form of PE? yes, Gravitational energy is the energy stored in an object due to its height above the Earth (e.g. if it's further away or closer to the ground). It is a form of potential energy.(again also from google idk if you need to know anything besides yes)
Definition of elastic energy the energy in an object when the object is getting deformed (compression and expansion) in 4.2 it says "Energy an object has in its relation to its compression and expansion"
how to increase EE increase compression or increase expansion(if confused look back on the spring diagram if you cant find it search up how to decrease elastic energy
how to decrease EE less compression
is EE a form of PE? yes EE is a form of PE, energy stored in an object due to a force that temporarily changes its shape, such as squashing or stretching. Potential energy is energy that is stored in an object or substance. (also googled same as others)
what does perpetual mean? never ending
what does perpetual motion mean? never ending motion
what is a joules? the unit for work and energy
what is the abbreviation for joules? just uppercase J
define energy ability to do work( a force that causes things to move)
Define Rigidity A measure of how resistant an object is to being deformed.
Define deformity ability to be compressed and or expanded
why do some balls have more EE? (like tennis balls, basket balls, and foam balls They are made of different materials and they have different amounts of elasticity.
can you do questions like 15-18 on the study guide? she will have something like this and we will have to answer it
why have we not invented a perpetual motion machine because we haven't figured out how to make something never ending as the watermill seemed like it will never stops because its run by water but might be affected by too much rain, location, gravity, or not enough water.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
