enclave (noun) area within an area inhabited by people with unique cultural or ethnic traits. He was unfamiliar with the culture and traditions of the local enclave.
Incognito (adjective) used to describe someone who hides their true identity She wore sunglasses so that she could remain incognito.
tenement (noun) an apartment building where multiple people live separately, often urban area, usually poor people. He grew up in a tenement a few blocks away from his school.
conflated (verb) to combine two or more things into one. Unemployment is often conflated with laziness.
seminal (adjective) something that influences something else later. His album was a seminal work in the punk rock genre.
visceral (adjective) relating to gut feelings The song playing on the radio invoked a visceral feeling within her.
disparity (noun) an unfair difference in treatment, or just a difference. There is a huge disparity between the lifestyles of lower and upper-class citizens.
absurd (adjective) wildy innapropriate or unecessary It is a popular opinion that public executions are disturbing and absurd.
esoteric (adjective) only understood by a specific group of people who share specific knowledge on a topic. The museum exhibit was considered to be esoteric, with few people understanding.
exemplary (adjective) to represent the ideal of your kind She was an exemplary employee, consistently going above and beyond in providing customer service.
