First Steps Chux pad under arm, tie tourniquet, palpate vein, untie tourniquet, take jloop off and keep ends sterile, connect syringe to jloop
Step 2 Flush jloop, loosen cap on the other end of the jloop, tie tourniquet again, clean site for 30 seconds, have catheter ready
Step 3 Apply gloves open catheter, insert at 15-30 degrees then drop it, put towel under the cath, then occlude the vein, stablize the cath, and remove the needle.
Step 4 Connect jloop, unscrew thing, flus with saline, disconnect salin, peel dressing and put over blue part of hub, tape down.
