What is Anatomy? The study of the structure of a living organism
What is physiology? Physiology is the science that deals with the functions of the living organism and its parts
The smallest living units of structure and function in the body are. Cells
What is Anatomical position. body is in an erect, or standing, posture with the arms at the sides and palms forward. The head and feet are also pointing forward
What does Anterior mean? Front
What does Posterior mean? Back
Medial means? Towards the midline of the body
Lateral means? Towards the side of the body, away from the midline
What cavity are the lungs located in? Thoracic Cavity
What plane that divides the body into upper and lower parts? Transverse
Proximal means? Toward or nearest the trunk of the body
Distal means? Away from or farthest from the trunk or the point of origin of a body part
Approximately what percentage of the body weight of an adult female is water? 50%
Superior means toward the head
Inferior means? toward the feet
Superficial means? Near the surface
Peripheral means around the boundary
The sagittal plane divides the body or any of its parts into right and left sides
The coronal plane divides the body or any of its parts into anterior and posterior portion
An ionic bond is formed by a positive and a negative ion attracting each other.
The outer boundary of a human cell is called the Plasma membrane
