What is the Coronal plane? The Coronal plane is a vertical plane that divides the body into front (anterior) and back (posterior) portions.
What is the Transverse plane? The Transverse plane is a horizontal plane that divides the body into top (superior) and bottom (inferior) portions.
What are the four main elements that make up the human body? Oxygen (O), Carbon (C), Hydrogen (H), and Nitrogen (N)
What is the role of water in the human body? Water is essential for many bodily functions, including temperature regulation, transportation of nutrients and waste, and maintenance of cellular structure.
What are biomolecules? Biomolecules are organic molecules that are essential for life, including carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids (DNA and RNA).
What is the function of the Cell Membrane? The cell membrane, also known as the plasma membrane, is a thin layer of lipid and protein molecules that surrounds the cell and regulates what enters and leaves.
What is the role of the Mitochondria? Mitochondria are organelles found in cells that generate energy for the cell through a process called cellular respiration, producing ATP (adenosine triphosphate).
What is the function of the Nucleus? The nucleus is an organelle that contains most of the cell's genetic material in the form of DNA, controlling cell growth, division, and function by regulating gene expression
What are the four primary types of tissue in the human body? Epithelial, Connective, Muscle, and Nervous tissue.
What is the main function of Epithelial tissue? Epithelial tissue forms the lining of organs, glands, and body surfaces, and functions in protection, absorption, secretion, and filtration.
What are the main layers of the skin? The skin consists of two main layers: the Epidermis (outermost layer) and the Dermis (underlying layer). The Hypodermis is a subcutaneous layer beneath the dermis.
What are the two main types of bone tissue? Compact bone and Spongy bone
What is the function of Compact bone? Compact bone provides strength and support to the body, forming the dense outer layer of bones
What is the role of the Skeleton in the human body? The skeleton provides support, protection, movement, blood cell production, and mineral storage, serving as the body's framework
