Describe two strategies that help speakers to manage communication apprehension (or prevent fear about giving speeches) 1. practice your speech. whether by yourself, or to a friend. maybe even go to the location to get comfortable with the area. time yourself. 2. write positive affirmations to remember directly on your speech. "look up" or "you got this"
Describe a strong opening technique and a strong closing technique for giving a speech. 1. opening- invite audience participation-they will feel connected to the topic and will be forced to think abt it 2. closing- end with a powerful image or idea- leave the audience with something they will think about after class ends
