| universal indictor | A universal indicator is a pH indicator made of a solution of several compounds that exhibit various smooth colour changes over a wide range pH values to indicate the acidity or alkalinity of solutions |
| neutral | something that isn't acidic or basic |
| acid | a substance with particular chemical properties including turning litmus red, neutralizing alkalis, and dissolving some metals |
| base | base, in chemistry, any substance that in water solution is slippery to the touch, tastes bitter, changes the colour of indicators |
