| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Solid | A substance with a definite shape and volume. |
| Liquid | A substance that has a definite volume but not a definite shape. |
| Gas | A substance that has neither a definite shape nor volume. |
| Freezing | A change in state that occurs when the tempeture of particles has decreased energy and a liquid turns into a solid. |
| Melting | A change in state that occurs when particles speed up and change from a solid to a liquid. |
| Boiling | A rapid change in state that occurs throughout a substance changing it from a liquid to a gas. |
| Evaporation | A change in state that occurs as particles from the surface of a liquid change to a gas. |
| Sublimation | A change in state directly from a solid to a gas. |
| Condensation | The reverse of evaporation when a substance changes from a gas to a liquid state. |
| Deposition | The change in state directly from a gas to a solid state. |
| Boiling point | The specific tempeture at which a liquid changes into a gas. |
| Melting point | The specific tempeture at which a solid changes to a liquid. |
| What is a change called going into different phases of matter? | Phase change |
| What are the three phase changes? | Solid, Liquid, and Gas. |
| What is matter? | Anything that takes up space (volume). |
| What is a solute? | The substance that is getting dissolved. |
