The sky grew dark, and thunder rumbled in the distance. People began to hurry inside. A storm is coming.
Jamal’s eyes were red, and he kept wiping his face with a tissue. Jamal has been crying or is upset.
Maria slammed her locker door and stomped down the hallway. Maria is angry or frustrated.
When Ms. Carter walked into the classroom, everyone quickly hid their phones and sat up straight. The students were using their phones or not following rules before she entered.
The dog’s leash was hanging by the front door, and muddy paw prints led across the floor. The dog went outside and came back in muddy.
Even though the movie had started, the seat next to Emma was still empty. She checked her watch again. Emma is waiting for someone who is late.
The lights were off, and a half-eaten piece of cake sat on the counter. Someone left in a hurry or was interrupted while eating.
Caleb’s stomach growled loudly as he stared at the clock, waiting for it to reach noon. Caleb is hungry and waiting for lunchtime.
The teacher smiled and handed back Maya’s test. Maya grinned and said, “Yes!” under her breath. Maya got a good grade on her test.
When the fire alarm rang, students calmly lined up and walked outside. The students have practiced fire drills before.
