TermDefinition
Identity Who we are as people and as members in a community.
Characterize Describes the qualities of something
Viewpoint (Perspective) The point of view of a story determines who is telling it and the narrator's relationship to the characters in the story.
Theme A theme is a universal idea, lesson, or message explored throughout a work of literature
Claim To take something for yourself and/or to make an argument/ give an opinion
Counterclaim Another person's idea/ claim that is different from another someone else’s.
Argumentative A main idea/opinion backed up with evidence that supports the idea.
Analyze To study something to understand how it works.
Identify To look for something that is hidden/ uncover something.
Evaluate o look at something and decide it’s importance/ worth.
Narrative A type of writing that tells a story with a specific structure.
