Psych U1 Functions

QuestionAnswer
Central Nervous System (CNS) Processes information and makes decisions.
Peripheral Nervous System (PNS) Connects CNS to the rest of the body; transmits sensory info and motor commands.
Pons Connects brain to spinal cord; coordinates movement.
Cerebellum Coordinates voluntary movement, balance, and nonverbal learning/memory.
Midbrain Controls some motor movements; relays visual and auditory info.
Frontal Lobes Speaking, planning, judgment, and muscle movement.
Association Areas Integrate information for learning, memory, and higher mental functions.
Thalamus Sensory relay station; directs sensory messages to cortex.
Brainstem Controls automatic survival functions.
Reticular Formation Filters stimuli and regulates arousal.
