TermDefinition
Circulatory System a network of organs and vessels that transport blood throughout the body
alveoli Alveoli are tiny air sacs in the lungs where oxygen enters the blood and carbon dioxide leaves it.
Capillaries Capillaries are the tiniest blood vessels in the body where oxygen, nutrients, and waste are exchanged between the blood and the cells.
Arterial blood oxygen-rich blood that is carried from the heart to the rest of the body through the arteries.
Venous blood the blood that travels through the veins, carrying deoxygenated blood back to the heart.
diffusion Diffusion is the movement of particles from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration until they are spread out evenly.
membrane bound organelles Membrane-bound organelles are parts of a cell that are surrounded by a membrane, which helps them do specific jobs by keeping them separate from the rest of the cell. They are found in eukaryotic cells, like those of plants and animals.

Fermentation Fermentation is a process cells use to make energy when there isn’t enough oxygen. It happens in some cells, like muscle cells or yeast, and can produce things like lactic acid or alcohol.
